How do you compare with specialist carpet cleaning companies on price?
We’re not the cheapest carpet cleaning service in Auckland. This is by design. Using environmentally friendly products, vacuuming your carpets and taking the extra time to clean dirty or ‘hard to get to’ areas means we will charge a little more than the lowest price carpet cleaners you can hire.
But if you want a top quality carpet clean by carpet cleaners you can entrust your home with, that uses safe cleaning products rather than harsh chemicals then the extra investment is well worth it.
Before you hire a carpet cleaning company we recommend you check out their website to see if they are:
- Professionally trained and qualified carpet cleaning technicians
- A member of the Carpet Cleaning Association of New Zealand (which has a independent disputes panel)
- Carry professional indemnity insurance
- Have at least 10 positive reviews from real customers.
How long do you need to clean my carpets?
The time needed depends on your home and the current cleanliness of your carpets. For a typical three bedroom home two to three hours is needed, including the post clean drying technique we use to speed up the drying process.

How long will it take for my carpets to dry?
Two to eight hours with the steam cleaning method of carpet cleaning (recommended). One hour with the encapsulation method.
With either method you will be able to walk on the carpet immediately after being cleaned although it will still be a little damp. Using a heater, dehumidifier or opening nearby windows and doors will speed up the drying process.

Do I have to move my furniture?
For small, easily moveable items like coffee tables and chairs, we’ll move these to another area. Its best to wait until the carpets are dry (typically one hour) before moving them back to their original spot. This avoids damaging the carpet while its still wet.
For larger items like lounge furniture, we clean around and under these items rather than moving them for safety reasons. You’re welcome to move these items before or during the carpet clean to ensure we clean every square inch or your carpet.

What carpet cleaning products do you use?
We recommend and use eco-friendly carpet cleaning products that are biodegradable and non-allegenic.

Why should I have my carpets cleaned?
Your carpets act like a filter (resting place) for dust, dirt, allergens and other microscopic particles. Vacuuming lifts the upper layer, but a lot still remains in the ground in the piles. Our service lifts and removes the stubborn residue and the steam cleans and freshens your carpet, making your home cleaner, more hygienic and easier to breathe.
What method to we use?
We employ a deep steam extraction method. At the same time the machine pumps out hot water and steam, it sucks the dirt and impurities away, totally removing them from the carpet.
What is the difference between steam clean and shampooing?
With shampooing, a detergent is applied to the carpet and the machine scrubs it in. The carpet is then left to dry and the remaining residue is left in the carpet. Over time this will build up. The dirt is not removed like with deep steam extraction.
Portable or truck mount units?
Portable Ninja machines have a suction of 250-500 PSI. The truck mount is 500PSI+
Although the suction on the truck mount is higher, too much pressure can actually cause damage. Portable systems are appropriate for carpet and upholstery in residential properties.
Can I walk on the carpets straight away?
Yes you can. The carpet will be damp to touch, but not soaking wet. We recommend putting plastic bags over your shoes to guard against dirt being transferred.
Do I have to go out while you are cleaning?
It is up to you. You may remain at home if you wish. The portable machines are a bit noisy for small children and babies though.
Will it smell like wet carpet?
Wool carpet in particular will smell when damp, but deodorising is part of our service.
Will stain treatment get out all the marks?
Around 90% of general soiling and marks will come out with our normal steam cleaning service.
We will treat any remaining marks, and do our best to lift them. It does depend however on the nature of the stain – what caused it and how long is has been there, also if you have tried to treat if yourself. These factors may all effect whether the stain can be lifted.
Does steam cleaning my wool carpet remove the natural oils?
No it doesn’t. Although natural wool fleece does contain natural oils, these are mostly removed during the manufacture process – an oily carpet will attract dirt.
